Science and Engineering Fair 2025
April 1, 2025 update:
- Registration remains open!
- Boards will be delivered to classrooms 2nd week of April and remain available for pickup at school thereafter.
Note: This event is open to current Cascadia families only.
If you would like to volunteer to help, please contact volunteers@cascadiapta.org.
The Cascadia PTA is hosting the annual Science & Engineering Fair to help your kids explore their interests in science, engineering, and technology! Read on for details about the events and how to participate.
Science & Engineering Fair Activities
- Science & Engineering Projects: Students can participate by working on a science or engineering design project at home. Working independently or in groups, students carry out projects at home from February–April and create a tri-fold display. Participation is optional and open to all Cascadia students, grades 2–5.
- Cascadia Science & Engineering Fair: Cascadia students and families are invited
to our in-person Science & Engineering Fair at the school on April 24 at 6–7:30 PM.
Students can register to display their projects and community organizations will
host tables with activities or presentations.
Dates to Remember
- February–April: Project Time! Students work on science/engineering projects at home and create a tri-fold display. Use the Project Planning Guides linked below!
● By March 31st Deadline: Fill out the online registration form if you want to share a science or engineering project poster at the Science Fair. Cascadia enrollment increased this year, so registration is important for us to plan space requirements. If you think your student(s) might participate please register early. There is no
commitment.
● Beginning April 1st: Tri-fold poster board pickup at school for students who requested a board on the registration form.
● April 24th Science & Engineering Fair: An in-person, evening event for students and families.
Information about Student Projects
- All Cascadia students in grades 2–5 are invited to participate with a science or engineering project. Participation is optional (see 5th grade information below).
- This is a non-judged fair. All participants are entered into a prize drawing held at the end of the evening in the gym.
- Participating students will conduct their projects at home, create a display board, and present their project and board at the event on April 24th.
- A limited number of display boards will be available free (provided by the PTA) by requesting one in the registration form. 5th graders have priority.
- Limited funds for project supplies can be requested through school social worker Annie Cantrell.
- For 5th Grade Families: You may hear that your fifth grader has been assigned a science project this spring. Fifth graders are encouraged to present a science project at school independent of the PTA event. Because this school work occurs around the same time as the PTA’s evening Science and Engineering Fair, 5th graders are highly encouraged to enter their project into the PTA event. Participation in the PTA event is not required, but because students already have a great project, the PTA event is a chance to show it to a wider audience.
