Here are some frequently asked questions about bussing to Cascadia.
Is my student eligible to bus?
If you live in the geographic zone for Cascadia, and are not within walking distance (under 1 mile), you are entitled to bus service.
Do I need to do anything to request the bus to stop near us?
Please contact the SPS Transportation department to request your family be served by the bus to Cascadia. The best timing for this is probably mid-summer when they will be working on routes.
Does the bus have to take my student to their home?
No, bussing can be arranged to after-school care or another destination. If you don’t have the request into transportation before the school year starts, this can be done using a Yellow Card request temporarily. For permanent changes, you must submit to transportation department.
I forgot to request (or change the destination of) bus service, can my child still ride?
In the morning, your child can get on any bus that is destined for Cascadia. The trick is to find out where stops are. You can email to communications@cascadiapta.org to get connected with someone who collects bus information to help parents with this. After school, you can submit a Yellow Card that is good for a few days of riding the bus to an alternate destination after school.
Is there tracking available?
Yes! Read the post a parent wrote about the FirstView App: Ride the bus? Track it!
How can I connect with other families who ride the same bus, so we can communicate about issues or delays?
Many of the busses have a Facebook group for families who ride. Look up “CES Bus XXX” with your bus number or ask in the main Facebook group.
