Advocacy Day – January 30

It’s time for all of us to rally and urge our lawmakers to step up and amply and equitably fund K-12 education this session. If we don’t, SPS and districts across Washington will continue to face budget shortfalls which could mean educator layoffs, program cuts, and more school closure conversations.

Via the Billion Dollar Bake Sale campaign, we need to show the public and our lawmakers that fully funding schools is a top priority in this legislative session, which begins on January 13th!

Join All Together for Seattle Schools and Billion Dollar Bake Sale Campaign partners for an Advocacy Day on January 30th in Olympia and encourage others to join you.

  • There will be a morning Welcome, Advocacy Introduction, and Sign-Making at an indoor location (8:30 – 10 am), an outdoor rally with keynote speakers outside the Capitol (10 – 11 am), and legislator meetings in the afternoon (11am   – 3 pm).
  • The campaign team is working to schedule legislator meetings for those who register by January 17th.

Children are welcome, but we are unable to provide childcare. There are activities set up for school field trip groups that may have capacity for other students and their caregivers to attend, but field trips will need to receive priority if space is limited.

Attending in person aims to:

  • Prevent devastating public school cuts for 2025-2026
  • Secure at least $4 billion per year of stable long-term funding for K-12 public education in Washington State
  • Commit to making Washington State a leader (and not a laggard) in public education
