SUMMER STUDIO FOR YOUNG ARTISTS!

It’s that time of the year again! Schools will be over in few days and then another fun chapter of summer will start! I am excited to teach 3 painting workshops at Seattle Visual Arts Studio. If you know of a kid/teen who gets excited with paper-pencil-charcoal-paintbrush-canvas, please share this! My studio is all stocked up and I am ready to draw and paint with them.Young artists of ages 8-16 will have the opportunity to explore different art media and develop artistic skills and vision to foster their creative expression. All art materials will be provided.

In these week-long full day workshops students will be guided through the process of developing a painting. I will work with the students individually, in a hands on, step by step fashion guiding them from start to finish and focusing on the aspects of the process. They will also learn to break down the approach of painting into fundamental elements of drawing, composition, value and color.

We will discuss, learn and transcribe from Claude Monet, Camille Pissarro, Auguste Renoir, Edgar Degas, and Van Gogh to name a few.

Workshops will be taught through lecture, demonstration, individual and group critiques.

This summer Lis Lueninghoener will be hosting a Girls Coding Camp out of her North Queen Anne home. The camp will run July 16th-20th from 9am-Noon and if it goes well she may schedule another camp for late August. Enrollment is limited to 10 girls grades 1-4 (current school year), for this camp I have two spots remaining for 3rd or 4th graders. Cost is $200, but if that is not in your budget your girl is still welcome.

We will be playing with Lego Boost and EV3 robots, Wonder Worshop Dash, Dot, and Cue robots, Snap Circuits, Block-based programming, and possibly Python and Raspberry Pis. I am a certified (in IL) High School Math Teacher and Python Programmer and have run similar clubs out of my home or my children’s schools in the past, including an after-school club for all kids this semester. I have two children attending Cascadia and will not be advertising to the larger community, but enrollment in Cascadia is not expected.
