National walk to school day is October 10th! It celebrates and encourages walking to school. Studies show that walking to school helps boost student concentration and learning, as well as have a positive impact on in-school behavior. Walking to school can be part of a healthy exercise regime, as well as reduce pollution in school zones.
Ways to participate:
- Walk from home to school with parents or friends
- Meet up at a muster point and join a walking school bus; parents are invited to park and walk with the students to school
Muster points will be leaving from Maple Leaf at 7:15, and Greenwood Park, at 7:30. Please plan to walk with your child, or have another adult supervise your child.
- Walk at least 1/2 mile before getting on the bus; consider walking to a bus stop further from your house
